"Feels like no-one taking me seriously"

About: General practices in Lanarkshire University Hospital Monklands / Emergency Department

(as a service user),

Contacted my GP surgery for review after 8 days treatment of tonsillitis. I was firstly allocated an appointment, to be called and told to attend Monklands A&E as it was unresolved and needed ENT specialist review.

I've been and attended, and sent home without seeing ENT and told just to ride it out. Its left me feeling very dismissed and hopeless.

I proceeded to call back my GP for my appointment. To which I can't get an appointment.

Why is there no direct referral to ENT? If there is, why didn't my GP use this? I'm on day of 8 antibiotics, minimal resolve, still feeling unwell with pain and discomfort and eating, feels like no-one taking me seriously.

Thank you for sharing your experience of your GP and University Hospital Monklands, Emergency Department.

I am sorry to hear that you are feeling so unwell with tonsillitis. It must be very worrying for you that it has lasted as long. I am also sorry to hear that you feel dismissed by the doctors at A&E and that you have been unable to speak to an ENT specialist. I can only imagine how frustrating this has been.
