I was referred by my GP at the beginning of January to UHH SACU for appendicitis. The process was seamless and I felt well taken care of by friendly and supportive staff in every department I visited.
I initially attended the SACU on the ground floor and was under the care of ANP Ellie. She was kind and professional, she took the time to answer any questions I had, and ensured that I was kept up-to-date with the plan regarding my care.
I was well looked after in the radiography department where I attended for CT and USS, I do not know the staff names who helped me, but I am very thankful for their care!
I was moved to Ward 4, where I was looked after by Staff Nurses Bibi, Sam and Ana overnight. All 3 nurses were kind and attentive. It was clear that they were very busy but they made time to answer questions, and put me at ease. Sam was looking after me the day I went into theatre, she knew that I was nervous and I felt well looked after in her care. She was knowledgeable about the process and happy to share information with me to ease my anxiety, this certainly helped. I met lots of kind staff on this ward including SCN Kay and hostess Elaine, both were professional, friendly and helpful
Mr Denlay was the surgeon for my appendicectomy he was kind and professional and I am thankful I got to meet him beforehand, I felt I was in good hands. I was also given good post-op advice and I am recovering well.
I also wanted to mention thank you to Lynn from Theatre Recovery, and the rest of the Theatre Recovery staff who looked after me very well as I was a bit (very) nauseous after surgery! The staff in this unit were so kind and patient with me post-op, I so appreciate it.
Overall, I just wanted to submit this to say thank you to all staff involved in my care. You were all complete professionals, and I did not have a single bad experience from when I walked through the front door.
I would appreciate if this message could be relayed back to the members of staff involved, I know people are quick to hear negative feedback, and I hope the same is done for when it is positive. You all turned what was a stressful, nerve-wracking process into one that I can reflect on positively, and for that I am extremely grateful! Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
"Professional, friendly and helpful"
