"Breastfeeding support experience"

About: Children & younger people's services / Ashfield Healthy Family Team

(as a service user),

Breastfeeding was not straightforward for me. My baby was slow to gain weight and it was incredibly painful to feed her. I was referred by my health visitor to Jo at the Ashfield Breastfeeding Specialist Clinic for help.

From the start, Jo put me at ease, listening to our story so far and what my goals were with breastfeeding. She helped me try different positions, checked the baby's latch, taught me how to check if the latch was good, and talked through my worries and concerns. Before I saw her, I wasn't sure I would be able to continue breastfeeding for long. I've now been breastfeeding for 7.5 months and I don't think I would've gotten this far without her support at a such a crucial time.

Dear Bumblebee88

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your wonderful comments on this forum for all to read, we do appreciate all feedback and use this to enhance our service provision where we can.

I am so pleased that Jo was able to provide you with the care, support and guidance you needed to enable you to successfully feed your baby. The Infant Feeding Team (IFT) work hard to support parents and their babies and I am so pleased that when you reached out for support you were able to get your needs met.

The IFT work in close collaboration with the Healthy Family Team and it is great to hear that this partnership has worked well for you.

May I wish you and your baby all the very best and thank you for your feedback.
