Exactly four weeks ago my fiancé was sent to the respiratory clinic to investigate the source of his chesty cough that he had for several weeks. He was seen by a nurse whom didn’t even listen to his chest but claimed he did not have a chest infection. Believed there was fluid on his lungs and said he was possibly suffering heart failure due to him constantly losing his breath both at night and sometimes during the day.
They sent a red letter for him to be seen urgently by the cardiology team but four weeks later we’re still waiting for any response. It’s a good thing he isn’t suffering from a heart attack isn’t it? It baffles me that he’s labelled an urgent matter but he’s still waiting a month later to get his heart investigated. How long, in their view, does it take for an urgent case to be looked into? I appreciate that backlogs happen because of strikes, but if someone needs to be seen urgently doesn’t that overrule it?
