My dear mother was admitted to the East Surrey Hospital at the begining of October and remained there until her passing in mid October.
I could not believe the level of care that my mother received during that period, and the kindness and compassion shown to my sister and me, who stayed by her side 24/7 during this most difficult and emotional time. I now know why nurses are called angels. They laughed with us, cried with us, and supported all of us during this journey.
From the first day in A&E, where Jane took such good care of us, then AMU where the lovely Louise, in particular, was so good to us. Then finally to Tandridge where we encountered some very special people ... Lee, who always made my mother (and us) laugh (she adored him), Krit and Jason and Ele (our brother from Uganda! ) .. Always so calm, patient and kind ... Patricia who came round with the tea, Geronimo who cleaned the room, the nurses ... all so caring, especially Judith ... and Sister Dawn and Timothy. They all felt like family to us.
The doctors were brilliant ... and we saw so many ... and a special thank you to the palliative care team, Julie in particular, Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for everything you did to make my mother's last weeks on Earth as comfortable as possible and for going out of your way to make my sister and I comfortable staying in the hospital.
We really could not have asked for more and I doubt very much that you would get better treatment in a private hospital. God bless all of you and forgive me if I have forgotten to mention anyone by name. We will never forget you x
