"Looking after my father when he was end of life"

(as a service user),

My father had end stage prostate cancer he took ill quite suddenly last few months. 

He was rushed to hospital and cared for my paramedics and Ed team, unfortunately he passed away but the care and treatment he had form all the team including a most kind consultant was exemplary.

They looked after us and gave us time, even calling me at work to speak to me personally explaining and giving such empathy,

Wishaw general paramedics and Ed team were professional empathetic and kind and did everything they could to help us and my father.

I will ensure your lovely comments are fed back to the staff in the Emergency Department, who work so hard in delivering a high standard of care to our patients and showing compassion and understanding to the families of our patients. I have no doubt they will be delighted for the feedback.

I'm so sorry for your loss. This must be an extremely difficult time for you and your family and please accept our sincere condolences for the recent passing of your father.

It's so kind of you to reach out at such a hard time to pass on thanks to the staff who supported you and your warm comments will be greatly appreciated by them.

It's heartening to hear that at the very worst of times, you remember the dignity, empathy and compassion which was shown to your father by the NHS staff who cared for him.

If you'd like us to pass on these comments directly to the Wishaw paramedics who were in attendance, if you could send a quick email to sas.feedback@nhs.scot with name, address, date and time of call out and we can track them down in our system and get this to them.

Thank u both for replying it’s been hard but we are muddling through without him, I think in the most awful moments, nhs staff shine, I’ve seen it time and time, u supported us and talked us through what was difficult decisions and gave us the space and time to say goodbye.

The crew who looked after him did all they could unfortunately it was a catastrophic event so I would just like to say thank u for looking after him and supporting him, the female consultant in that day was really lovely and kind and I couldn’t thank her enough.
