Admitted for a GA for Hysteroscopy & Polyectomy following an abnormal result from US scan at Nightingale Hospital in June. In early July, I had my pre-assessment at women’s health centre (lovely receptionist, HCA & nurses) & had surgery date booked for a few days later in July. Arrived at hospital early but was booked in by Sophie (student nurse) who saw me though my whole patient journey. Sophie is going to be a great RN.
Met Mr Maclaren (surgeon) who was so attentive & kind. He made me feel I was safe in his hands. Prof. Mike (Anaesthetist) also listened to my fears from previous negative experience with GA & reassured me that I would feel better this time.
Debbie (ODP) put me at ease waiting to be put to sleep & I made a good recovery, managing to eat toast & marmite, ginger biscuits & the best cup of tea (brought by Sophie).
I wish I could remember the names of all of the nurses who did my Obs, gave me meds, carried out safety checks on the day as they were ALL so friendly, kind & made me feel safe & cared for.
I know how hard everyone is working across the NHS, so really feel it important to recognise great care when it’s delivered under increased pressures!
The team looked after five of us yesterday afternoon but at no time did I feel that I was just a number on their theatre list.
I was listened to, reassured & taken excellent care of.
I hope this letter can be formally recorded as a compliment for all 3 services I have come in to contact with over the last two weeks.
I know that wards / teams don’t always have time to record the Thank yous they receive from patients.
Please do extend my thanks to everyone.
Many thanks.
