"Please give patients a rough time of when they'll be seen"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as a service user),

I went in for a septoplasty to Grantham recently.

Other than being told "you're next", I didn't get any update on when I would be taken down. Please stop saying "it won't be much longer" when I end up sitting there for another 2-3 hours.

Other than that small issue, the staff were amazing. The anaesthetic team were lovely, I felt very well looked after.

But please please just give patients a rough time of when they'll be seen, it could save people a lot of stress and upset, especially if they're neurodivergent.

Dear Phoenixburst

Thank you for taking the time to send in your comments and as Matron for the hub I am always happy to take your comments further and discuss with the team as this is an extremely valid comment and we need to learn from it.

I am sorry that this happened but from sharing with the wider team we will do our best to endeavour this doesn’t re occur, it is difficult with theatre time to know when you will be going but the communication can be improved upon, so thank you for raising it.

Pleased to see you have said the team were amazing and I hope you are recovering well

Please take care

KR

Julie
