"Inappropriate reception practise"

Arriving at an empty reception desk to deliver a urine sample, as requested by a doctor, I waited patiently until I was spotted by a member of staff, name with held. From the doorway of the adjoining office, she yelled to me shouting "is that for an infection"!!! I assumed that she had seen that I was holding the specimen tube.

I beckoned, with my hand that she might approach me, as one would expect at a reception desk. I politely asked that she didn't yell at me and confirmed that no this was not an infection - although not quite sure why she needed to know that. I was given a form to complete in what seemed to me, a very discourteous matter before being rudely dismissed. The whole experience left me feeling quite upset and a little annoyed. I fully agree that staff should be treated with respect and common courtesy. However, we as patients have the right to expect the same.
