"USS injection"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Radiology

(as a relative),

My husband waited almost 2 years for an appt to get both shoulders injected and finally this was the day!

We both took annual leave off work to go as he wasn't allowed to drive afterwards (even though he was told on the phone he could) as per the appt letter.  Arrived for the appt early, had to go to reception after 30mins as per a poster on the wall and hubby wasn't called until 40mins after the appt time to be told there was no-one available to do the injection!

I know things happen - staff get sick etc etc, but a simple phone call to change the appt would've been appreciated meaning we both could've gone to work and not wasted a days leave each! This was infuriating.

Although this was a shambles and a waste of our time and a valuable appt, I have to say the department staff were lovely!

Dear Distraught Wife, I am so sorry to hear of your experience this week. I am sure you and your husband are very frustrated that the injection could not be given and it was a waste of your time. If you would like to complete the user feedback form and provide your husband's details I would be happy to look into this and provide you with a formal response regarding why the appointment could go ahead and why this was not communicated with you in advance. Regards, Rebecca
