My daughter was born under 38 weeks and needed the NICU for jaundice and an infection as well as sticky blood. Her feeding was never really great and we had a hospital admission and an NG feeding tube inserted to increase feed. My daughter was so unsettled and always crying.
I was prescribed CMPA milk and my daughter gradually got a bit better but her feeding was still reduced. Upon another admission to hospital SALT were contacted and a lady called Emma came to visit us.
Emma was the only professional I had seen that had a genuine interest in observing my daughter’s feeds. She treated her throughly and gave me advice to assist my daughters feeds. Emma also had a care plan in place upon meeting my daughter and this was the only time I heard a care plan mentioned for my daughter which showed Emma’s great ability to be prepared.
I really felt listened to by Emma and felt she took all my concerns on board with regards to feeding issues and concerns I had. Emma made me feel listened to which was a great ordeal when your infant is so young. She then referred us to the community SALT to continue the journey she started.
Thank you so much Emma
