About: Omagh Primary Care Complex / Outpatients

(as the patient),

I recently attended Outpatients in Omagh Hospital. Unfortunately a place i have to attend quiet regularly due to poor health at the minute. On most visits it's a great experience with friendly approachable staff however on this occasion what I observed was quite upsetting. I was in the waiting area when a nurse approach her colleague who seemed more senior. The nurse was speaking to her colleague and then the other nurse became quite loud and started shouting back at the first nurse. It appeared quiet abusive/aggressive in tone. I was quite upset by this and felt it extremely inappropriate.

I personally have been treated by the nurse who was being shouted at and they have always been so kind to me. I just felt so sorry for the nurse . From what I witnessed I'm just glad I wasn't on the receiving end of the shouting. I found it to be really unprofessional.

I wish to thank you for your time in completing a care opinion response. I have read your story and offer my sincere apologies of what you observed.

All staff should act and response in a caring and professional manner in any caring areas. I have spoken and shared your story at the daily staff briefings and Staff Meeting. I have forwarded your response and discussed your story with Consultants, MDT Team members and Specialist Nurses who all use the Outpatients environment for Outpatient Clinics. There is learning for all of us as Care Providers to be accountable for our actions and acknowledge when we are wrong. Thank you for your Care Opinion.
