"I have never felt more supported"

About: Continuity of Midwifery Carer Service / Sapphire Team Maternity care / 2 West Maternity Maternity care / Antenatal Diabetic Clinic Maternity care / Delivery suite Maternity care / Maternity/Gynae Outpatients

(as a service user),

In Sept I had my ante-natal booking appointment in DHH and was advised I was to be looked after by the continuity of midwifery care Team Sapphire. However I was at risk of developing gestational diabetes and after a positive glucose test a few months later, my care was transferred to CAH.

At first I was apprehensive going to a new hospital and meeting new drs and midwives but I was reassured that the COMC team would keep in contact with me and that I would receive the best care for myself and my baby.

In March I arrived at the delivery unit for my induction and from the moment I stepped through the door, every midwife and Dr that I met provided us with the highest standard of care. Emma, Aileen and Jo in the induction bay, Danielle, Aisling, Maeve, Ashley, Abbie in delivery all made me feel so comfortable, made my experience so positive, reassured me me that I was in safe hands and helped me to deliver my baby girl. Jordan, Valerie and Rachael on Maternity ward west looked after us after birth and got us ready to head home.

In the lead up to my due date my COMC lead midwife Helena kept in close contact and on day 3 post delivery she called out to my house for our post natal checks. For the week that followed I had visits from Helena, Lydia and Oonagh along with phone calls and texts to check in. I have never felt more supported in such an important time in my life.

All of the employees I encountered in both CAH and DHH for the duration of my pregnancy and post natal care were top class. From the domestic and catering staff, the health care assistants and medical staff, they all showed such compassion, care and professionalism. And all of them contributed to making my experience so positive.
