I had my gallbladder removed at this hospital a year ago and it changed my life for the worst,
It’s a year on and I’m left without answers and if my complications could have been prevented and the hell I went through. I had what should have been simple procedure - gallbladder removal. Prior to my removal, I had multiple stones that were confirmed on imaging. The day of removal I felt not right and I was dismissed, told that one stone was removed. It seemed odd to me after previous scan.
Got discharged, then admitted back to hospital days later. To be told it turned life threatening and my bile duct was blocked. I nearly died and no compassion was given. Staff very rude and blunt.
I was also told in hospital that no x ray machine or scanning to check over stuff after removal at this hospital, so how the heck do they prevent this from happening if they don’t do that? I also got told my anatomy was bigger, which resulted in higher chance of stones escaping - so again why did the surgeons discharge, to then lead me back to hospital? Delays on scans and by the time I got the procedure the stones were gone, so it was unnecessary.
I’ve not received any psychological support for the trauma or having to go through a procedure that wasn’t needed after all. I think that being left jaundiced, fighting day by day, with pain unbearable and being two weeks in hospital with a young child at home and being told very little by surgeons and nurses is shameful. If it was my last days it felt like hell :(
"Could my complications have been prevented?"
