My pregnancy and labour journey were brilliant, felt really supported and taken care of.

The post natal ward at the QEUH is a different matter.

I understand that there isn't the facility for private rooms, but for the love of god please at least provide women with the option of a "quiet" or "limited visitor" bay with partners only. I had two women in my bay on constant loudspeaker, watching movies with no headphones, 10s of guests roaming in and out including children running rampage and loads of men whilst the rest of us were trying to keep some dignity whilst bleeding through our clothes crawling to the toilets and showers.

All day long, every day. I was on the brink. 

Please please please implement more rules around noise and visitation or at least have some bays with different rules! Some of us have consideration for others!

Thank you for taking the time to tell us about your experience here at the QEUH Maternity unit and congratulations on the birth of your baby.

I am glad to hear how brilliant your pregnancy and labour were and that you felt well supported and I am sorry to read of your experience within our postnatal ward.

Following the introduction of Person Centred Visiting last year, a review has been undertaken capturing the views of women and their families and of our staff. The need for 'quiet time' and privacy for women and their babies is a clear priority and using this feedback, a new visiting pathway will be implemented within the next few months. This aims to minimise the footfall on all of our wards whilst ensuring that families who need additional support are able to receive this. I am sorry that your first few days with your baby was not as peaceful as it could have been but assure you that your feedback wil help to shape the service in the future.
