My son was diagnosed with HSP on the children's unit in December last year. We felt we were getting somewhere after a check up in January. My son was found to be having a flare up but he was well taken care of.
But apart from me having to take my son into A&E (severe stomach pain), because our GP couldn't see him even as an emergency, he has not been checked up since January.
Maybe my husband and I are overreacting but we were led to believe that HSP was a serious condition that needed careful follow ups.
I also understand that only one practitioner on the children's unit can actually follow up for HSP and that this practitioner has been off.
I'm not unreasonable. I feel for this practitioner because they have actually taken great care of both of my boys when they were babies.
I'm just really frustrated that only one practitioner can follow up for HSP, when it's supposed to be serious enough for regular follow ups.
It would really help if more than one practitioner was trained to do this.
The frustration we feel as a family is now through the roof.
I cannot fathom the messing about we have experienced.
It's so disappointing when I know nurses who work on this unit and they work so hard for their patients.
