"We have a network of support because of their assistance"

About: Fife Community Services / Complex Care team

(as a relative),

A Little context... My mum suffered 2 heart attacks, a major stroke and has recently been diagnosed with Vascular Dementia. She was placed in palliative care at one point with 48 hours to live. 2 years on and Mum is  housebound and relies on carers and family for her ongoing care and safety.

The complex care team were introduced to us (the family) and have been supporting us now for over 2 years. Una and Sasha have been instrumental in the delivery of care, advice, increased support and honestly we can't thank them both enough.

We have had continuous check-ins, by phone as well as face to face to ensure mums care is supported and we as a family have a network of support because of their assistance and hard work keeping us informed. Una and Sasha have aligned us with other medical depts and doctors, consultants, specialists, the list goes on, allowing us to join up the dots if you will, and providing us with interconnecting health care teams and services. Una and Sasha are both dedicated, empathetic and SME's in what they do and provide.

Most recently we have been looking at care home facilities and having conversations with both Complex care and Social Work to establish a way forward as mum's physical and mental health continues to deteriorate. Unfortunately her deteriorating health does not meet the social work care home assessment requirement to progress at this time.

Our family would like to thank those at NHS Fife, the complex care team, both Una and Sasha and all the other unsung heros that have assisted us along this continuing journey. Your kindness, patience and empathy know no bounds. We are forever in your debt!

Thank you!
