After having chest pains & breathing difficulties, I spoke to NHS 111 who sent me to A&E at The Royal Infirmary, Edinburgh.
I spent a scary 6 hours in triage before being told that I needed to be admitted to the Respiratory Dept due to a severe lung infection & fluid build up.
The thought of being in a hospital is not something you want to happen because you know you are seriously ill if you do have to be admitted. When I arrived on the ward, I didn’t know what to expect given all the media reports about the NHS circulating.
I have had the most fantastic care here since I was admitted. All the doctors & nursing staff have been wonderful & caring. I’ve spent time talking to each one of them & they have been a great comfort in a time of great stress & uncertainty.
I hope my story might give hope to anyone who finds themselves in my position. I still don’t know what’s to come from my test results, but the staff here have made a frightening experience more comforting.
