"Helping me open my heart and eyes"

About: HMP New Hall / Substance Misuse Service

(as a service user),

My life before coming to the drug recovery wing was dark, pointless and worthless. Since my time coming on here I've learnt about managing my feelings and controlling my thoughts. I have discovered what I want for my past, present and future.

I have learnt about the pros and cons of using, I've learnt how to turn my old behaviours in to new and positive behaviours. I have learnt how to overcome fear and how to accept me for me. I have learnt about different boundary styles and how to manage high risk situations and most of all what my triggers are and how to manage them.

So I want to say a massive thank you to Beth and Abbye and all the staff at HMP New Hall for helping me open my heart and eyes to a world of happiness and amazing opportunity
