"No-one available to direct patients to the correct area"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Outpatients

The phlebotomy department is understaffed and has no-one available to direct patients to the correct area, several patients were waiting in the wrong area; there was only one nurse working the entire time I was here with my Mum. 

However, the nurse on duty was absolutely fantastic, my Mum has Dementia and Parkinsons, amongst other conditions and she gets very anxious about going to the hospital and the nurse took the time to reassure her and talk through exactly what was happening and ensured she was relaxed and comfortable - absolute asset to the NHS so please give her additional support!

Dear Pegasusmf95

I am very sorry for your experience within our phlebotomy department. Our departments activity has significantly increased in recent years and we have recently tried using a different room for having bloods taken.

We are constantly reviewing this and are aware the department is regularly experiencing very long waiting times.

We do have a longer term plan to move the phlebotomy service however in the interim I will look at this recent room move and work with the SCN to address issues around signage etc to make it clearer for people attending.

Thank you for highlighting this as without feedback we don’t know when changes can create a negative impact.
