My recent bowel cancer screening test showed further tests were needed. Previous tests and subsequent colonoscopies have shown I have diverticulosis and some polyps so it was no shock.
Previously, in 2019 and 2023, I have just been sent a colonoscopy appointment and the pre test laxative has been posted to me. However, this time I got to speak to a skilled practitioner, who talked me through the whole process, checked my medications etc. booked me an immediate blood test, gave me all the written instructions required , handed me the Moviprep kit and booked me an appointment for my colonoscopy. What a great improvement! I hope it encourages more people to get checked out.
I would like to single out Agila, the SSP who saw me. She really knew her stuff and did such a great job, many thanks Agila.
Also my thanks to Lucy, who did my blood test early before my car park ticket expired! Thanks Lucy, I got the impression you might have done this type of thing before?! I’m really looking forward to our next date!! ;-)
On the topic of parking at Princess Royal- bearing in mind this was my first visit to this hospital - it seems a nightmare, I thought I had arrived in good time but became worried I would miss my appointment. My tip, provided you can walk OK is to go past the main car parks and park at the back. Plenty of room and only a 5 minute walk back to the Main Entrance.
I also enjoyed a very tasty bap and a coffee in the canteen near the main entrance. Very pleasant staff and a very clean area with tables.
I’ve never thought of a hospital as a destination but I’ve paid good money for far less pleasant days out!
Go NHS!!
