"Invited out to a group to meet other mums"

About: Children & Young People Physical Health / North Lincolnshire Health Visitors

(as a parent/guardian),

Struggling to understand my birth and all the complications that happened and living far away from family and friends.

My baby was delivered naturally with the help of forceps and they didn't remove all my placenta so I kept having contractions. Due to this I lost half the blood in my body and had to get rushed into theatre and have a blood transfusion. I don’t remember a whole lot about my birth story and it breaks me that I wasn’t there to look after my baby boy in the first 5 days. I really struggled when I got home as my mum and dad went back home to Scotland and I felt so alone and felt like I had no one around me. Struggling to be in the house 24/7 with no friends around me. It really took a tole on my mental health.

Nadine and Debbie really helped me by inviting me to the group and getting out the house to speak to other mums that went through or felt similar. I’d definitely recommend the service to other parents that are struggling.

Hi there memberwj43, this is such very powerful feedback, thank you so much!! I am Amber, one of the Team Leaders for the 0-19(25 SEND) service and wow, what a very real but powerful piece of feedback. It really can be such a difficult and isolating time having a baby and something that's really not often spoken about so thank you for sharing your story and being open and honest. I will pass this message to Nadine and Debbie. I am really pleased to hear it has helped getting out and meeting other's who have felt similar and I hope you can continue to access our groups! Thank you again! Should you need to contact the 0-19 service please do not hesitate to contact 0800 0199951.
