"A&E with child"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Emergency department

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter injured her little finger on a door which resulted in a visit to A&E. I had contacted the phone first service and spoke to a lovely nurse who arranged an appointment with minor injuries the following day. Unfortunately my daughter couldn't settle and was becoming more upset and anxious so we decided to attend A&E, and the receptionist kindly cancelled the minor injuries appointment.

A big thank you to Dr Blessy for her assessment and management. She was lovely and really helped my daughter to relax by explaining what she needed to do and how she also once experienced the same injury. I particularly liked how Dr Blessy, the consultant and the radiographer (apologies I can't remember their names but both were also very kind and reassuring) spoke directly to my daughter when taking her history and examining her injury. Thank you all for your help.
