"Truly one in a million"

(as a parent/guardian),

Where to start….

Vikki has been there for my son for over 3 years now and wow! She is amazing!

Vikki has gone above and beyond to build a positive relationship with my son and myself building a trust to improve a safe environment and somewhere he wants to be.

Her kind words, professionalism, manner and support haven’t gone unnoticed, building for me the belief that there are people out there who want to help and actually care about what they are doing and help my son!

He was at nursery when it came up that he had a speech impediment and has really struggled to be understood when communicating, building frustration for him and him shutting down not wanting to talk.

He has a severe phonological speech disorder with dyslexia and autism screening in progress. When he began he was only 4 and would lose interest very quickly; then Vikki came along. Acknowledging his triumphs, helping him with areas he wasn’t as confident in speech but in a way where he wouldn’t feel he was wrong or getting it wrong but building a good relationship between him and speech, helping him be more confident in himself and own who he is.

She goes above and beyond to make sure she has the best help and advice for him and myself on how to support at home.

Vikki just shines! You can tell just by being in her presence that she cares about what she does and it’s not just “a job”, she cares about the people she supports and I hope they let her know how amazing she is!

There are people out there who make a massive difference in people’s life’s and Vikki is one of them! We adore her, she truly is one in a million and we are thankful that she came in our lives and helped our boy!

Thank you for being you Vikki!

(I know this isn’t the most professional way of communicating the appreciation we have for her but I just wanted to be transparent and open. I know if she reads this she knows it’s from the heart!!)

Dear kathy123

My name is Gemma Wilson. I manage the children and young people's speech & language therapy service and I am also Vikki's line manager.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a heartfelt and thoughtful reflection on your experience with our service, and in particular, with Vikki.

I am delighted to hear how Vikki has supported your son and your words capture the essence of what we strive for in our Speech and Language Therapy Service.

It’s clear from your story that Vikki has made a lasting impact, not only through her clinical expertise but also through her warmth, dedication and genuine care. Supporting your son to feel confident in his communication and helping you feel empowered at home are exactly the outcomes we hope for, and it’s wonderful to know that Vikki’s approach has made such a difference.

I will make sure your feedback is shared with Vikki and the wider team. It means a great deal to hear how valued she is, and I know she will be deeply touched by your kind words.

Thank you again for your openness and for recognising the work of our team. I wish your son continued progress and confidence in his communication journey – and I'm so pleased our service has enabled you to support the ongoing development of his skills..

Warmest wishes,

Gemma
