"A fall at home at night resulting in a stay in hospital followed by care at home"

About: Community Therapy Services / NNE Community Therapy East Midlands Ambulance Service NHS Trust / Emergency ambulance Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

I fell in my bedroom whilst reaching for the en-suite door. Losing my grip on the door handle, resulted in me being flung against the wardrobe doors' wooden knobs and then crashing to the hard floor on my left hip. I was unable to make anyone hear until 2 hours later when my son found me, and phoned 999. It was another hour before the ambulance arrived.

Once at hospital, after very careful driving by the paramedic, I was soon assigned to a ward and the following day, had a partial hip replacement. Excellent treatment in hospital by everyone involved in my care. I cannot speak too highly of all the help I have received.

Dear Patient

Thank you for sharing this patient experience with us. We are very sorry to hear of your fall but pleased that the care you received following on from this was of such a high standard.

I will of course share this with the Trauma and orthopaedics Matron to ensure your feedback is shared within the team. I hope our colleagues at EMAS also get to see this.

May we take this opportunity to wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind regards,

Kelly - Patient experience officer.
