"Really appreciate the effort they put in from start to finish"

About: Stone treatment Centre: Northern Ireland Extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL)

(as the patient),

I attended my second session of shockwave therapy recently at the stone treatment centre. Just like last time the staff were incredibly friendly, ensuring to explain the process in great detail and asking me multiple times if I had any questions or needed anything! At the end I had a lovely chat with two of the nurses, I was tempted to try to stay for the day they were so friendly! The process itself is quite painful but the staff really ensure to make you feel well looked after and content! Really appreciate the effort they put in from start to finish!

Thankyou for taking time to give feedback on the ESWL service. Your positive experience is great to hear. ESWL can be sore, and with delivering this treatment as an outpatient procedure to aid access and ensure a minimal hospital attendance, pain management can be challenging.

We are reviewing and exploring potential options for alternative methods of pain management in addition to medication such as distraction therapies, use of VR headsets etc.

We hope in the future this will give patients a greater range of safe and non invasive options to manage any discomfort during ESWL.

Thanks again for taking the time to feedback.
