"We really appreciated her time, kindness and expertise"

About: Specialist Therapy Services / Community Stroke Team – South Notts

(as a service user),

We were really impressed that Margaret came out so quickly after my stroke - the hospital hadn't said that anyone would come and we were feeling a bit perplexed - we knew I was ok to leave hospital but we didn't have any information about what to expect or how to manage and I felt a bit abandoned so it was great to have the team get in touch so fast.

The day after I got home Margaret came and went through the whole picture with me and that was really useful.

Rhea came and after the first appointment we got on really well and she helped with my hand. She introduced me to Tracey who was wonderful.

Margaret kept visiting from the beginning and was so helpful. She gave me exercises that stretched me a bit and then a bit more and then a bit more. She was first class and I'm now able to spell and read again and my speech is much better - I can even talk in groups again.

She was also really good at listening to me and giving me helpful perspectives and information. We really appreciated her time, kindness and expertise.

Dear junerm89,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with us. Your kind words mean a great deal to our team. We’re so pleased to hear that Margaret, Rhea, and Tracey were able to support you so promptly after your discharge and that their visits helped you feel more informed, reassured, and confident in your recovery journey.

It’s wonderful to know that the exercises and ongoing support have made such a positive difference in your speech, reading, and confidence — that’s a fantastic achievement. We’re also especially glad that you felt listened to and cared for throughout the process; that’s exactly the kind of person-centred care we aim to provide.

Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback. We’ll be sure to share your comments with the team, they will be delighted to know their efforts had such an impact. We wish you continued progress and all the very best in your recovery.

Warm regards,

Claire Lee

Community Stroke Team Lead
