I would like to feedback on my positive second pregnancy and birth experience. I was very lucky to get Tracy was my midwife, she was brilliant and extremely helpful. I felt at ease at appointments with her. She answered my many questions, provided outstanding care and support in my second pregnancy journey with Hyperemesis Gravidarium and Gestational Diabetics. She and Alice advocated for me and gave me courage to decide to birth in Dundee midwifery unit (outside current guidelines due to GD).
Lorraine was very kind towards me and provided much needed support taking account of my first traumatic birth experience. She provided me with holistic care: mental health support, helping me write personalised birth preference and attending many meeting with obstetricians and consultant midwife. She provided reassurance and helped me to be in control throughout my pregnancy journey. Which was much needed to survive the HG and GD and complications came with them. She also went out of her way to do sweep (when my midwife was on leave) to assist my labour. Without this I would have most likely ended up having the planned c section 3 days later. I am forever be thankful to her for making the procedure easy and helping my body birth my baby naturally.
I would like to thank Dr Mudenha, Vicky and diabetic nurse team for supporting me through Gestational Diabetics. Dr Mudenha was very honest with her advice and answered my many questions patiently. I am grateful to her for supporting me to make birth decision taking account of what is acceptable risk to me.
Laura and Elizabeth (Libby) supported me during the labour. They were both trauma informed, kind and very competent. They respected my birth preferences within safe boundary. I am very grateful to them for looking after me and baby during labour and allowing me to labour naturally at my own pace without any inventions. The calm DMU environment, knowledgeable and kind midwifes helped me achieve my dream water birth experience.
Me and baby finished our pregnancy journey with health and happiness :) I would like to thank all the above mentioned extraordinary staff and others who were part of my second pregnancy and postpartum journey. We will forever be grateful. This experience made feel so proud to work for the NHS and dedicate my life.
