I feel outraged, gaslit and failed.
I have been battling period symptoms for years and I finally got a referral to Gynaecology, just to experience failure.
I saw one gynaecologist who dismissed all my period pain, told me it might be neurological, abortion-shamed me and told me to go on contraception despite me saying I didn’t need more side effects, and then told me to lose weight and it’d be cured. They also said my scan result were lost. I of course complained to my GP and went for a second opinion.
The other gynaecologist I saw was just as awful. Gaslit all my experiences, denied side effects of contraception, told me that I wouldn’t be able to have a laparoscopy due to being overweight (which after consulting a Endo specialist is incorrect), told me is absolutely not Endo but also disagreed with the first gynaecologist I saw, diagnosing heaving period and then wrote an appalling summary letter to my GP. They also told me my scan result were lost, despite my GP sending them directly to them and myself. They refused to look at them on my phone.
My GP responded to ask for more medical evidence to actually aid a diagnosis and diagnosis pathways, and i feel that the gynaecologist's response was more medical gaslighting and lies. My GP felt this was inappropriate and could see the failure, so we decided to refer to another hospital.
Nonetheless, I accidentally missed my follow up at NDDH with yet another Dr (as I’m ill with Covid and forgot) and they have just sent a letter to say I failed to arrive so they presume my symptoms have resolved.
My whole experience so far has been disgusting, traumatising and in my view nothing but medical negligence from the NHS. As a woman, I sadly expected this, but to experience it is entirely different. Beyond disappointed and very much still suffering.
