Dr Carson, the anaesthetist during my caesarean section, was absolutely phenomenal and truly made my birth experience. She took the time to speak with me in advance, talked everything through clearly, and really listened when I explained that I was very nervous about feeling sick. She adapted my anaesthetic plan accordingly, which immediately made me feel heard and reassured. When my daughter needed some support with her breathing and was taken out of my sight while my husband went with her, Dr Carson repeatedly came back to check on me, making sure I was okay and explaining exactly what was happening. Her calm, reassuring presence and clear communication meant I felt safe and able to trust her completely that my daughter was okay. Because of her care, I was able to have a genuinely positive and even enjoyable caesarean experience, which I know would not have been the case without her support.
