Hi I was admitted for a day care procedure to Sunderland day care. I was told to arrive at 12.30 which I arrived at 11.30 so no reason to be late. I am insulin dependant diabetic and had not eaten since 7.15 that morning. I was still sitting waiting to be seen by anyone at nearly 14.45. When I eventually was seen by a consultant and we discussed the procedure I was having. I raised my concerns as when I had daughter and had a Caesarian was put on insulin drip and glucose drip stopped working so was put in to a coma. To this the consultant said. "Are you diabetic?" She then asked if I had told the hospital. I said it was all in my notes and even at pre-assessment they checked my blood glucose so yes hospital were fully aware!!! I find this very very poor hospital care. If I had not mentioned my concerns. What would have happened if something went wrong! It frightens me even to think about. She then said we need to bump you up the list. I was 7th on the list and even being bumped up the list still did not go down for op until nearly 4.30pm. Who's fault was this?? I am not usually one to complain but feel that this is a big error by hospital. The staff on the ward I may say we're really good so I have no complaints about them , apart from not much information given regards what happens about stitches being removed. I was told to contact Ocelot Ward regards any queries. I did contact them as was concerned about something. They were a little off and said talk to your gp and that was it. Not very good HCP Who do I contact my GP or hospital. Am not sure?? I know everyone is busy but a lot more care needed. These are people's health.
