My 84 year old mother was admitted to Braintree Community Hospital at 12pm yesterday after being unwell for some time and being unable to get out of bed or stand that morning.Braintree did x rays and blood tests and found that she had had a liver problem for some time, and had gallstones. They tried to refer her to Brookfield, but the medical department said it was a surgical case, and the surgical department said it was a medical case, so she had to go to A&E. She left Braintree just after 4pm, and my sister went home to have some food. When she returned some hours later my mother was still sat on a trolley in A&E, in a very uncomfortable and distressed state, and shivering with cold. As well as her present problem she has a history of heart problems, severe arthritis, COPD, high blood pressure, an ulcerated ankle, and diabetes. She had had no food or drink since the tea and biscuits given at Braintree, and had been unable to get to her inhaler. My sister had to ask repeatedly for some help. She was finally admitted to EAU at around 9pm, when it was found that Broomfield had lost the x rays and blood results sent by Braintree, and had no idea what was wrong with her. I'm afraid I think that this is truly shocking treatment, and if most people found a vet treating an animal in this way they would change their vet. Unfortunately NHS customers do not have that choice.
"dissapointing and dangerous"
