I started talking therapy with Jo when I was referred after an initial assessment with the counselling team. This came after I had been to my GP suffering with mood related issues and anxiety.
The therapy was new to me and I had no initial expectations about what would be involved and how it would help me.
The first session explained the process and the following few sessions were personally hard for me as I started talking about my issues and experiences.
Each session led me to explore how I felt and why I felt that way. Learning about myself and exploring my own experiences.
As my sessions progressed it became easier to talk and share. This in turn led to me becoming more aware of who I was, how I felt , what I wanted to achieve and what I needed to do to make myself feel better.
The therapy didn’t have a single answer to everything and was guided by me and my feelings. Allowing me to work through my issues and find my own answers.
