"Disappointed with staff member's attitude"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / MRI Unit

(as the patient),

I attended for MRCP in the alliance medical Antrim mobile MRI. I found the signage poor, I had to ask 3 people for directions before I found the place. I was put in a booth and forgot about, I wasn’t given a gown and this was only noticed when a member of staff came looking for me.

The radiographer was not friendly, they didn’t explain the procedure at all which made me very anxious. I didn’t realise it was going to be so loud. They didn’t tell me anything about the length of time it would take, or what to expect. They didn’t reassure me or communicate with me at all throughout the scan. They gave me a buzzer, but didn’t explain what it was for. It was a really terrible experience.

I feel really disappointed with this staff member's attitude and think they shouldn’t be responsible for caring  patients who need compassionate communication about a frightening procedure. It was clear to me that I was just another old lady coming in for a scan, and they wanted as little as possible to do with me as they could.
