"Help with getting into my house"

About: Occupational Therapy / Physical Disability & Sensory Impairment (PDSI)

(as a service user),

I was visited by Norma the occupational therapist for my local area. She observed me getting into my house and saw me struggling with my rollator and trying to keep the door open. The door is a fire door and is really heavy for me. My door was unlocked because my eyesight is very poor and I can’t see to get the key in the keyhole very well. Norma arranged for a surveyor to come and see what help could be given. I’m delighted to say they are coming soon to fit an apparatus that will open my door with a fob so I won’t have to find the keyhole, also this apparatus will keep the door open long enough for me to negotiate my rollator and myself inside safely then automatically lock the door.

I am absolutely delighted with the help and support received and ever so grateful.

@Auld May

Thank you very much for taking the time to leave such a lovely review of your recent involvement with our occupational therapy service. It was heart warming to read and I will ensure to pass it onto Norma who I am sure will be equally delighted.

I have no doubt that this adaptation will make a huge difference to your everyday life and I hope it also improves your safety and confidence at home and in your community, please don't hesitate getting in touch in the future if required, we would be happy to help in any way that we can.

Thanks again for your lovely feedback,

Simone
