"I consider myself lucky to have had their support"

About: Community Nursing Teams / Gosport 1 Community Nursing Team

(as a relative),

My husband was referred by local hospice to the community nursing team when discharged home for end of life care at home ,following severe haemorrhage from stomach following diagnosis of cancer .

The care received made my life as my husband's carer much easier .

He looked forward to their visits .

He was visited weekly to check if there were any problems , and nurses liaised with his GP if there was a problem ( much easier than me trying to speak to GP ).

I was always able to contact them if I had any concerns .

When his condition deteriorated and I called, the team appeared with under an hour to put in a syringe driver and catheterise him .

Having direct access to the team made the situation far less stressful.

I consider myself lucky to have had their support ( a long journey of 8 months ).
