"Excellent care"

About: University Hospital Ayr / Respiratory Medicine

(as the patient),

I was in hospital for 17 weeks, I have a functional psychological/neurological disorder and I took a drug overdose as i was not coping. I was put on station 8 in the hospital and all the staff was wonderful, from the tea ladies to the consultants everyone treated me with kindness. They organised for the ANP team, the OT team and the mental health staff to come to me rather than transfer me to another hospital because they knew I was struggling with my mental health. Cannot thank them enough for their help, understanding and care.

Dear romeokw95

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience following your 17 week stay in hospital. I am truly sorry to hear how difficult things had become for you, but I am deeply grateful that you felt supported and cared for during such a challenging period.

Your kind words about the staff on Station 8 mean a great deal. I know the team will be touched to hear that every member β€” from our tea ladies to our consultants β€” helped make a positive difference to you. They work incredibly hard to provide compassionate, person centred care, and feedback like yours reassures them that their dedication truly matters.

I am also pleased to hear that having the ANP team, Occupational Therapy, and Mental Health colleagues come to you on the ward provided the continuity and support you needed. The team recognised the importance of maintaining a safe and stable environment for you, and I am glad this approach helped you feel more at ease.

Thank you again for taking the time to express your appreciation. I want to wish you continued strength in your recovery, and please know that we are here should you ever need further support.

With warm regards,

Hazel Hainey
