Had to attend CUH for a procedure recently and I cannot recommend the theatre team enough.
As soon as I walked into the operating room, the staff made me smile, chatted to me as if we were all friends which made me feel comfortable and relaxed.
From the theatre staff, nurses to anaesthetists, all were super supportive and calmed me down due to nerves. I had a previous bad experience (during my birth in 2020) and they were all understanding and out my mind at ease.
Prior to my operation, I was so panicked about not being in control, so having everyone take their time to introduce themselves and explain everything that was going on put my mind at ease and felt like I could trust them instantly.
Specifically a young guy in theatre (he had theatre staff on his name tag but I cannot remember his name!) he seemed to be leader of the room!
Then in recovery, all the nurses were friendly and reassuring even when I had to stay there for another 2 hours! They also made the best hot chocolate I’ve ever had in a hospital!
Even though it was a longer than expected visit, I was never made to feel like a problem or burden which I’ve experienced previously elsewhere.
The hospital has a history of a bad name but the theatre team is an absolute diamond in the rough.
