"I'm really pleased with how the birth went"

About: Lochaber (Belford) Hospital / Maternity care Raigmore Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I was feeling quite anxious about having my baby in Raigmore after quite a traumatic experience previously, and had really hoped for a Belford birth this time around, but had to go to Raigmore and was really disappointed about the lack of birthing pool there.

But the midwife Olivia who delivered our baby was great and although there was some last minute complications, she listened to what I wanted, helped me understand my options and ultimately I still felt in charge of my decisions and I'm really pleased with how the birth went. I really just want to say thank you to Olivia for being so lovely!

Also the care from my community midwife Megan at the Belford throughout my pregnancy was brilliant. She was always a good listener, well informed and friendly. I can't speak highly enough of the midwifery team at the Belford!

Hi HogmanayHB,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience.

Huge congratulations on the birth, hope both you and baby are doing well.

I will share your feedback with the teams involved, it was so lovely to read.

I am sorry that we were unable to offer you the birthing pool. Thankfully, I am pleased to say that we are in the final stages of getting the pool back into service. I completely understand that does not change your experience though.

Thank you again for your kind comments.
