"A very friendly and supportive atmosphere"

About: Specialist Therapy Services / Pulmonary rehab (NNE)

(as the patient),

I have IPF. I was referred for my second bout of PR, which I completed in February 2026. The classes were held in Daybrook, Nottingham.

I was much less fit than for my previous course, partly due to a bout of pneumonia in the summer. Half way through the course, I felt I could tackle things with greater ease: I was less breathless, had more energy and more resilience. Things continued to improve from then on, and I feel a lot better now than I had done before the course.

In addition, the classes were fun: the physios were great, tremendously encouraging, setting levels of achievement for each of us as individuals. It was great to work hard in the company of others in the same boat, and there was a very friendly and supportive atmosphere.

Would I recommend PR to others? Absolutely, I would, it was a truly enjoyable six weeks, and I'm looking forward to my next sessions in a year.
