"Visit to the Emergency Department"

About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response South West Acute Hospital / Emergency Care and Medicine Services

(as a carer),

My 90 year old mum had a fall at home. We called 999 and an ambulance crew arrived with in 20 minutes. They advised going to the ED although initially seemed reluctant to transport her, rather they suggested that I would take her myself. I was not happy as mum was in a great deal of pain, so they agreed to transport her. Handover was reasonably quick. We waited for head CT and X-ray of hips/pelvis.

Mum’s was diagnosed with a fracture of a small bone in her pelvis and a UTI. Dr Graham Noble was extremely professional, patient and kind. Nurse Rachel and Joanne were also very kind and understanding. We greatly appreciated the care shown.
