"Emily goes above and beyond"

About: Royal Hospital for Children and Young People (Edinburgh) / Play Services

(as a parent/guardian),

Play specialist Emily goes above and beyond. Our sons now out of the ward and in day care and she still takes time to visit during day visits and helps make the treatments and wait much more enjoyable for our son.

Shes the only reason we can get him to come in, as soon we say her name hes happily bouncing in.

When i was away for a coffee she just helped him make me a mothers day card with his hand prints, something we could never get him to do (he hates getting dirty) after working with him for months on messy play I finally have his hand prints, something I will cherish forever.

Thank you Emily!

Dear Marchnm43,

Thank you for taking the time to share this lovely feedback about Emily on this platform. I am Emily's line manager and will make sure she sees these lovely comments and she too will appreciate you taking the time to share your story.

I am glad that he was able to build a great relationship with your son and encourage him to engage in some messy play and other activities, resulting in a lovely card for you to keep. It is also lovely to hear that he is happy to come onto the ward at the mention of Emily's name.

Best Wishes

Margaret McEwan
