"Friendly, professional & reassuring"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Xrays & Scans

(as the patient),

I attended for a Cardiac MRI scan. I was very apprehensive as I have had a previous MRI scan of my ankle, that I really struggled to complete.

I knew I had to have this done as I had a very serious attack recently that resulted in hospitalisation overnight & Cardiologist explained that I really require this test to diagnose what is going on with my heart.

On arrival Gareth the radiographer was friendly, professional & reassuring.

He was already aware that I was very apprehensive.

He completed my checklist, explained exactly what was going to happen during the scan & cannulated me.

On proceeding with the examination I really struggled with the closed in feeling & wasn’t convinced I was going to manage the 40-minute scan.

Gareth was reassuring at all times, professional, caring and understanding of my concerns. It was only down to his kindness that I managed to complete my test successfully.

All staff were lovely but a special thank you to Gareth & Emma.

A credit to the X-ray Department & FVRH.

Dear Sparky Bill,

I am very pleased that you managed your recent scan with the help of the Radiographers. We recognise that when our patients are nervous and anxious, we often don't get the best results. So we pride ourselves on the ability of our team members to help comfort our patients, and give reassurance and encouragement during such long scans.

I will pass on your thanks to both Gareth and Emma personally - they will be very pleased to hear such lovely feedback, and it is affirming to them that their patient care is landing well with you and others in the same situation.

I wish you well in your recovery, and thank you again for taking the time to feedback on the service experience you have had,

Best Wishes,
Jen
