"Hospital@home care"

About: Integrated Community Services Service Delivery Unit / Hospital at Home (Physical Health)

(as the patient),

I used several services recently, early March, 2026. I rang 111 with a problem and was given an appointment for OOH GP. The GP listened very well and was concerned so I was sent to AMA.

The treatment I received over the next 24 hours was great for all areas.

I had a serious infection which was treated. When my infection was under control I was asked if I would agree to be discharged to the hospital@home team. I agreed after being explained what it was.

The care from all the nurses at home was excellent. The took time to talk to me, explain how things were going

On my visit, 2 days in, I forgot to tell the nurse I wouldn’t be available until 12pm the next day due to having to attend a hospital appt with and my husband.

I rang the number on the Friday in the evening to advise, as I of course didn’t want the nurses to waste their time. The phone was answered, not very courteously by a staff member who sounded bored, inattentive, as if they didn’t want to be there and couldn’t be bothered. I left the message with them to pass on. I didn’t feel confident they would pass it on.

On the Saturday morning the nurse arrived at around 11.30, luckily we got back earlier than anticipated, The nurse said she was totally unaware of my phone call.

My treatment up till that point had been exemplary by all the staff who dealt with me.

If you’re feeling unwell, the last thing you need is to feel a nuisance by anyone.

I, like most people don’t wish to complain, I love our NHS.
