"Finally honest about my needs"

About: Portsmouth and South East Division / Community Therapies-Petersfield/Bordon

(as the patient),

I’ve needed help with mobility due to back problems for a couple of years but I limped on denying I needed help. Well, you can only do that for so long and my GP referred me to OT for help.

While waiting I was finally honest to myself about my needs. I couldn’t have strategically placed furniture across the room forever and actually they often got in my way when they weren’t being used for balance or a resting spot.

Ethan came to talk to me about what was available and what may help. He was relaxed and friendly and went through what he could help with. He suggested a type of walking stick that would probably be the most helpful with sciatica. He suggested a specific walking sticks and to make sure I ordered left and right handed ones.

On his second visit he showed me a couple of ways to use the walking sticks and I decided the skiing action method would work best for me. Put both forward and walk to the sticks.

Well, thats it really. I can always go back if I need any further help or advice.
