Unfortunately we have experienced two miscarriages over the past year and a bit.
We have visited the Rubislaw ward at the Aberdeen Maternity hospital several times as a result.
We cannot put into words how grateful we are for the outstanding, compassionate and genuine care that we received from every single person that looked after us.
It’s been an incredibly difficult time for us, and the care that we received made a horrible situation for us feel less heavy.
Every question we asked, no matter how big or small was always answered with care and warmth. Even though this team deal with this situation all the time, we were NEVER made to feel like a number. We felt like we truly mattered to those caring for us and it honestly helped us so much.
On leaving the ward I was always told to phone up at anytime for advice when I was in the middle of the miscarriages. Every time I did, there was always someone on the other end of the phone to offer reassurance. I was incredibly anxious at this time and this made my experience so much more mangeable.
The team are personable, whilst always maintaining utmost professionalism which made us feel safe and secure in their knowledge and trust in their care.
I wish I could remember everyone’s names but their faces will always stay with me as lights in the midst of an incredibly dark time.
We went on to have some tests after our second miscarriage, including an APS test. Due to my medical history this was a very anxious time for me, waiting to find out the results.
Rebecca was absolutely outstanding. She always listened to my numerous questions and I was never made to feel like any of them were silly.
As soon as she knew my results I was advised of them incredibly quickly. I felt like my results and experience was just as important to her as it was to me. To have that level of consideration and care shown towards me is something I will always be so grateful for.
In the future I hope that I will have a successful pregnancy, the care I was given when it wasn’t successful has ensured that I know whatever happens I will be in safe hands.
Thank you so much and I hope this messages reaches the ward.
