"Incredibly supportive and encouraging"

About: Community Mental Health / Move Ahead - Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Service

(as the patient),

I have been using the Move Ahead service for a few months now after having depression for in excess of 40 years.

All the team have been incredibly supportive and encouraging, and after many, many years of therapy and talking to other counsellors etc, I can honestly say that it's the first time I have felt that I am starting to address the root causes of my illness. Part of the service involves a walking group - I must confess that walking is not high on my list of priorities, but It's actually turned out to be very beneficial - it gets me outside and doing a bit of exercise, but it also allows me to get to know other people who may have found themselves in similar circumstances to myself.

I am booked on a few workshops to address specific issues, and am down for Trauma Counselling which I know won't be easy, but with the support of the team I'll get through it, and will find it very beneficial I'm sure.

A big thanks to all the Move Ahead team in Perth!

Dear GC63,

My name is Richard Sime, and I am the Charge Nurse for the MoveAhead service.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of the team for your kind words regarding the support you have received. I am glad that you are finding the walking group beneficial, and as you note it has given you the chance to meet other people, some of whom will have found themselves in similar circumstances to yourself.

I hope that you find the workshops that MoveAhead run helpful, in providing you with the information and some of the skills to look to address more specific issues. These combined with the Trauma counselling, which, as you note - won't be easy, will hopefully be very helpful in aiding your recovery journey.

Once again, many thanks on behalf of everyone here at MoveAhead for your kind and inspiring words, which I will pass on to the team on your behalf. We would also like to take this opportunity to wish you the very best on your recovery journey.

Kind Regards

Richard Sime

Charge Nurse
