I recently became unwell and was very shocked and taken aback when I was told I had a tumour and a rare illness. It was a really difficult time, and naturally there was a lot of worry and uncertainty.
I was seen by Mr Timmons, Consultant in Endocrinology and Diabetes, who delivered this news to me. I have to say, the way he handled the situation was outstanding. From the very beginning, he was professional, calm and reassuring, and he made what could have been an overwhelming experience much easier to deal with.
Mr Timmons took the time to explain everything clearly and in a way that I could understand. He answered all of my questions with patience and never made me feel rushed. His manner was excellent throughout not only professional but also very personable, with a bit of humour at the right times which really helped put me at ease.
What stood out most to me was that nothing ever felt like too much trouble for him. He even took the time to come and see me when I didn’t have a scheduled appointment with him, which meant a lot and showed a genuine level of care.
I cannot thank Mr Timmons enough for the way he treated me during what has been a very difficult time. He is a real credit to NHS Lanarkshire and NHS Scotland as a whole.
