"Outstanding care and treatment at Queen Elizabeth Hospital"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Endocrinology Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / General surgery (Wards 9a, 9b, 9c & 9d)

(as the patient),

Recently I became unwell and was very shocked and taken aback when I was told I had a tumour and a rare illness. It was a very difficult time filled with uncertainty.

I was treated by Ms Watson, Consultant Endocrine and General Surgeon at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and I cannot speak highly enough of the care I received from her and her team.

From the outset, Ms Watson was exceptional. Her professionalism, calm approach and the way she communicated with me made a huge difference. She took the time to explain everything clearly, in a way I could understand, and ensured that all my questions were answered. I never felt rushed and always felt listened to.

What really stood out was her manner not only highly professional but also very approachable and reassuring. She made a very difficult situation feel much more manageable and gave me confidence in the care I was receiving.

I would also like to recognise the staff on Ward 9C at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The level of care, compassion and attention from the nursing staff was outstanding. They were always there when needed, nothing was too much trouble, and they treated me with kindness and respect throughout my time on the ward.

Overall, the care I received from Ms Watson and the team on Ward 9C was exceptional. I am incredibly grateful for the support, professionalism and compassion shown to me during such a difficult time.

They are a real credit to the NHS.

Dear Maureen66,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. I’m truly sorry to hear how distressing and uncertain things were for you when you first became unwell and received such unexpected news. Facing a rare illness and tumour is incredibly difficult and frightening time, and it’s completely understandable that you felt shocked and overwhelmed.

I am delighted to hear how well supported you felt under the care of Ms Watson and her team. Your words reflect not only her professionalism and clinical expertise, but also the empathy, patience and clarity she brings to her role. Knowing that she took the time to explain everything, answer your questions and make sure you felt listened to is exactly the standard of care we strive for, and I’m so glad this made such a difference during such a challenging time.

I’m also so pleased to hear that the nursing staff on Ward 9C were able to provide the kindness, compassion and attentive care that helped you feel safe and supported. Their dedication to being present, responsive and reassuring is something they take great pride in, and your appreciation will mean a great deal to them.

Your feedback is incredibly touching, and it will be shared with the teams involved. They will be so pleased to know the positive impact they had on your journey. Thank you again for your kind words—they are a reminder of why compassionate, person‑centred care matters so much.

Wishing you continued strength and all the very best as you recover.
