"Extremely Paranoid, anxiety & chronic pain"

About: Adult Health & Support Services / Occupational Therapy

(as the patient),

I would like to thank all the doctors, occupational therapists that help me through a very bad period in my life. Extremely paranoid, severe anxiety & chronic pain. I wouldn't know were to begin.

After several months of attending meetings with Richard I've came a very long way from on the verge of suicide, 2 weeks running I had seriously contemplated this to get away from everyone, as I didn't want to be a burden on my family & friends. Not being able to leave my house or answer my phone. I'm now at the stage I can go out with family members (but I always have a few drinks beforehand if it's to a social get together). I can now answer my door but I've not got the confidence just yet to go out on my own. I'm not fully recovered, I've got a long way to go, but getting there thanks once again to Richard.

Anxiety is still very much a big part of my everyday life as well as the chronic pain. I feel I've let my family down with being sick like this.. but I've just had too much to cope with (I've always been the strong one) & last year I had a very bad breakdown...life is so hard but I'll keep fighting.

Thank you Richard for taking the time to listen & with your advice I try to keep fighting.

Dear Daisy16,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your experiences of working alongside, Richard, one of our Primary Care Occupational Therapists, so openly and honestly.

I am very sorry to read of the challenges you have faced, it sounds like it has taken a great dela of strength and courage to make the progress you describe, I am glad occupational therapy intervention has supported this.

I recognise that your journey to recovery is ongoing, and I would like to reasure you that we have a range of excellent services avaialble across Lanarkshire to support you as you continue to develop strategies to manage your anxiety and chronic pain.

I will make sure to share this feedback with Richard and the wider team. It means a great deal to the team knowing the support we offer is making a positive difference.

Thank you again for your feedback and I wish you all the best in your ongoing recovery.

Amanda
